A sprinkler system is beneficial as it keeps your lawn and other vegetation watered. If your sprinkler system has suddenly stopped working, this can be due to many things. Below are two possible causes so you can get your system repaired to keep your lawn in good condition.
Problems with Controller
The controller is the display that you use to control the settings on your sprinkler system. This may be a blank display, the sprinkler heads do not come up or go back down, or the sprinkler heads may spray unevenly over your lawn.
First, make sure the controller is in the on position. If so, the batteries may be bad and need to be changed. If you have a backup battery, this may need to be charged. Look at the controller to see if you see any damage on it. Check the settings on the controller to make sure they are set correctly.
If your controller is still not working, you need to contact a professional sprinkler repair company. They may be able to repair the controller, or they may need to completely replace it with a new one. This can be expensive so they will try everything they can to repair the controller first.
Problems with Water Pressure
One common problem with sprinkler systems is problems with water pressure, such as the water pressure is too low. This can be difficult to repair on your own as this can be caused by a variety of things. For example, the valve may be clogged, or the sprinkler head may be damaged.
There also may be problems with the rupture that is inside of the sprinkler line buried in the ground. Depending on your sprinkler system you may be able to repair some of these problems on your own, such as removing clogs from the valve. Refer to the manual that came with your system and it should have information on how to do this.
If there are problems with the sprinkler line buried in the ground, this is something a professional should repair. This will require that you use a shovel to dig in the dirt and you would likely not know how deep you need to dig. You also may hit water lines buried in the ground at your home, causing problems with your plumbing system.
